Installation problems

I have to reinstall WoW. Since I can't find my copy of vanilla, this means using the download/install client from the Blizzard site. And...it's not working. It runs fine up to about 75%, and then I get the following error.

The installer was unable to read the file "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft Installer\Installer Tome 3.mpq". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at C:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The data being read was "MPQs-1\Classic common\unconditional\Data#common.MPQ\textures\Minimap\244f29875a9c33775e8a54e09f5c09da.blp", and the error code was 8.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (Converter::Load)

What is this and does anyone have any tips on how to fix it?

((I have no idea how to tag this.))

Do you have your copy of Wrath? It has all of them.

Otherwise, I'm not so helpful, sorry :(

I've gotten similar write errors when installing iTunes. Temporarily disabling my anti-virus does the trick.

It's usually a good idea to at least turn off anti-virus when installing anything, especially when that bit of software has to maintain a connection to the internet.
